Words and Rhymes

How did it get so late so soon?
It's night before it's afternoon.
December is here before it's June.
My goodness how the time has flewn.
How did it get so late so soon?
~ Dr. Seuss

Ok, just for a second, can we talk about what a perfect word "flewn" is? Thank you, Dr. Seuss, for such a beautifully absurd rhyme! It almost tricks your brain into thinking it's a real word for a moment. Clever little flewn!

Also, shouldn't the past tense of "spite" be "spote?" The past tense of "smite" is "smote," so it stands to reason ... Look, "spited" sounds ri.di.cu.lous.  If you did something out of spite, or to spite someone, you should be able to say at the end of everything, "Yes, I SPOTE him!"
